Symposium Roundtables: Natural Hazards – The Importance of Physical & Numerical Modelling 18 February 2026 | 09:00–18:00 | Hybrid from Kigali

This one-day event highlights the role of physical and numerical modelling in improving forecasting and decision-making for natural hazards such as floods, landslides, and Lake Kivu instability. Leading international experts and Rwandan decision-makers will explore modelling approaches, their potential, limitations, and how they complement monitoring-based systems. The symposium is organized by the East African Institute for Fundamental Research and UNESCO IGCP, in partnership with NCST (WALL Project), the French Embassy (FEF-R KIGASA), and IRD.
